Man Threatens To Jump From Roof Of Long Island Bank

A distraught man was rescued by police officers from jumping off the roof of a Long Island bank building.

The incident took place around 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 23, when Suffolk County Police responded to a 911 call of a suicidal man who was threatening to jump from the roof of the Capital One Bank, located at 356 Middle Country Road, in Coram.

Sixth Precinct officers responded, and while Sgt. Kevin Montalbano and officers Carlos Oviedo, and Vincent Luciano engaged the man in conversation from the ground, officers Peter Laub, 

Samantha Marrone-Skippon, and Patrick Hanley went to the roof, where the man was sitting with both legs over the ledge. The officers on the roof grabbed the man, pulling him to safety around 8:45 p.m.

The man, whose identity is being withheld, was transported to a local hospital for evaluation.
